Which bodies are allowed to move freely and unhindered through the city? How can groups of people change cities through organisation, solidarity and movement? In this exhibition participating artists explore these and many other questions through videos and interactive installations.
The artwork (2002) by Esther Polak, Jeroen Kee and Waag Futurelab forms the starting point. For this work, participants 'drew' an interactive map of Amsterdam using early GPS systems. Enter/Public/Space enters into a critical dialogue with this legacy, and reflects on the presence of different bodies in public space, and how the norms for the acceptance of that presence differ per context. In this participatory performance, participants follow a route through Amsterdam using audio instructions left by a previous participant while walking, like a game of Chinese whispers. The route instructions become increasingly personal and chaotic. As they walk, they negotiate with themselves and the city through words.Sign up…
