Laatste weken van Temper Tantrum Bonehouse — nog t/m zondag 16 november
We gaan de laatste twee weken van Mette Sterre's Temper Tantrum Bonehouse (Chilling Incisions Calling Things That Have No Name) in! Nog niet de kans gehad om langs te komen? De is t/m 16 november geopend van woensdag tot en met zondag.
Of kom naar de finissage op 16 november, de allerlaatste kans om de te bezoeken voordat deze in deze rook opgaat en in vergetelheid verdwijnt. Met een laatste laatste activatie door Mette Sterre zelf kun je een spectaculair afscheid verwachten.
Ash Above, Show Below — Finissage — zondag 16 november, 17:00-20:00
Wees welkom voor de finissage van Temper Tantrum Bonehouse. Verwacht een afsluitende activering van de – een laatste gebaar van Mette Sterre, die het Bonehouse nog eenmaal tot leven brengt voordat het uit zichzelf oplost en in rook opgaat. Dit is de allerlaatste kans om het Bonehouse fysiek te bezoeken, voordat het verdwijnt in vergetelheid en slechts nog in dromerige herinneringen voortleeft.
Temper Tantrum Bonehouse, geïnitieerd door Mette Sterre, verkent de grenzeloze potentie van het lichaam en transformeert W139 tot een bezeten, grotesk, organisme. De toont nieuw en bestaand werk dat het lichaam doet vervormen voorbij herkenning en beperkingen. De kunstenaars creëren hybride, monsterlijke verschijningen die zich onttrekken aan categorisering en tegengeluid bieden jegens onderdrukkende systemen.
Met werk van Lolly Adams, Özgür Atlagan, Monster Chetwynd, Diane Mahín, Aimée Philips & Nina Läuger en Mette Sterre, en sound design van BJ Nilsen.

In It Together is het langverwachte 20-jarig jubileum van Dead Darlings, deze winter bij W139. Om deze mijlpaal te vieren, organiseren we een gehele veilingdag van ruim 80 kunstwerken, een knallend feest, voorafgegaan door , en een die 20 jaar Dead Darlings omvat.

Kom langs voor een drankje, een speciale cocktail en een preview van de werken. Ontdek meer dan 80 kunstwerken en uit twee decennia Dead Darlings. Schrijf je in voor de veiling, koop een catalogus, bekijk onze geweldige nieuwe merchandise en misschien ontmoet je wel een van de Darlings!
Auction Dead Darlings XX — zaterdag 13 december, 16:00- 21:00
Mis de spectaculaire niet! Twee rondes om te bieden op de kunstwerken, eten, drinken, optredens en tal van verrassingen. Alle verkopen zijn anoniem, de namen van de kunstenaars worden pas bekendgemaakt nadat elk werk is verkocht. Blijf de hele avond of kom langs wanneer je wilt!
DNK Amsterdam, de altijd avontuurlijke concertserie en het Amsterdamse voor experimentele muziek, geluidskunst en performance, viert haar 20-jarig jubileum met concerten en een , ontwikkeld tijdens W139’s Para-siting. Een nieuwe generatie artiesten presenteert werk, naast een aantal oude bekenden van de serie.
DNK Amsterdam Experimental Music Festival Weekend — Day 1 — zaterdag 22 november, 19:30
Montoriol, Eckhardt, McGuire, De Gendt Simultaneous/Synchronous van het DNK Ensemble, en The Social Music Club speelt stukken van Cornelius Cardew en Christian Wolff. Gevolgd door een after-hang met muziek van het DNK DJ-team.
Los Amarilllos is een uit Colombia.
Geconfronteerd met de dagelijkse realiteit van mensen die leven met hiv in —die telkens opnieuw terugkeren voor een behandeling die eindeloos lijkt—creëert Los Amarillos beelden die de vragen, verlangens en de waardigheid van met het virus levende lichamen verbeelden.
Bij W139 openen ze een ruimte voor aanklacht, herinnering en de viering van dissidente lichamen. Meer informatie op onze website.
Para-siting: phANTASMAL HAIRSALON

phANTASMAL HAIRSALON van Raoni Muzho Saleh met Karin Iturralde Nurnberg verandert W139 in een campy, draggy kapsalon. Maak een afspraak, laat je door de kapper een sculpturaal kapsel aanmeten en paradeer er vervolgens mee naar buiten. Met een van onze , fantastische hair-do’s of hair-don’ts tover je de straten om tot een campy en een brutaal drag-protest tegen een wereld.

Join us for the finissage of Temper Tantrum Bonehouse. Expect a final activation of the exhibition —a last gesture by Mette Sterre, bringing the bonehouse to life once more before it self-dissolves and goes up in smoke forever. This is the very last opportunity to physically visit the bonehouse, one final time before it slips into memory and lingers only in weary minds.
Temper Tantrum Bonehouse, initiated by Mette Sterre, explores the limitless potential of the body—turning W139 into a possessed, grotesque, organism. The immersive group show features new and existing works by artists that similarly distort the body beyond limitations and familiarity—creating chimeric apparitions that defy categorization and offer against oppressive systems.
With works by Lolly Adams, Özgür Atlagan, Monster Chetwynd, Diane Mahín, Aimée Philips & Nina Läuger, and Mette Sterre, and sound design by BJ Nilsen.

Coming to W139 this winter: Dead Darling’s 20th anniversary event. To mark this milestone, W139 will host a full auction day with more than 80 artworks, a celebratory bash, and in the weeks before, panel talks, silk-screening sessions, and an archival show spanning 20 years of Dead Darlings.

DNK Amsterdam, the concert series and artist collective for experimental music, sound based art, and performance marks 20 years of activity with concerts and a retrospective publication created during W139’s Para-siting over the month of November. A new generation of performers joins the fold, alongside some familiar faces.

Montoriol, Eckhardt, McGuire, De Gendt re-interpret the classic DNK Ensemble performance Simultaneous/Synchronous, and The Social Music Club performs pieces by Cornelius Cardew and Christian Wolff.
Colectivo Los Amarillos is a self-organized artistic collective from Colombia. Faced with the tedium of patients living with HIV in Latin-America who—time and again—return to receive a treatment that remains perpetual, they propose and construct images that embody the demand, the desire, and the sacredness of bodies living with the virus.
At W139, Los Amarillos will open a space for denunciation, memory, and the celebration of dissident bodies. You can find more information on our website!

phANTASMAL HAIRSALON by Raoni Muzho Saleh with Karin Iturralde Nurnberg, flips W139 into a fabulous draggy performative salon. Book an appointment, get crowned with a sculptural hairdo by the Hairstylist, a shady yet passionate character, and then strut it outside. Wearing our avant-garde fabulous hair-do or hair-don’t, you turn the streets into a campy moving exhibition, and a cheeky drag protest against a sterilised world.
