Je bent van harte uitgenodigd voor de feestelijke opening van flour, water, soil, de komende van W139, geïnitieerd door maria khatchadourian. Tijdens de avond zijn er , gemaakt door maria en Common Ground, een speciale cocktail en een perfomance van GalalaLive, die door middel van geluid en muziek kracht biedt in moeilijke tijden.
flour, water, soil is een geïnitieerd door maria khatchadourian, en omvat nieuwe en aangepaste werken door kunstenaars Areej Ashhab, Common Ground (Saja Amro en Anna Celda), Ola Hassanain, maria khatchadourian, Ai Ozaki and belit sağ.
De reflecteert op voedsel, land, en agrarische praktijken als de waarlangs ontheemding, koloniale breuken en verwantschap worden overgedragen en aangevochten – kwetsbare geografieën die zich tegen uitwissing verzetten door middel van dialect, belichaamde kennis en voorouderlijke recepten.
Met het uitgebreide ontvouwt de zich via verschillende manieren van samenkomen: gesprekken, leessessies, workshops, gedeelde maaltijden, wildplukken en handelingen. Als een die voortdurend in flux is, zal flour, water, soil zich ontwikkelen via interventies die de ruimte activeren als een geleefde, levende en voedende omgeving.

Para-siting: Cripping Warmoesstraat

Cripping Warmoesstraat is een studie naar crip* belichaming in Amsterdam aan de hand van en . Ilja Schamlé en Pırıltı Onukar bouwen een lab-keuken bij W139, waarbij ze gebruikmaken van bloemen, kruiden en bacteriën die al in de Warmoesstraat aanwezig zijn, evenals onze chaotische stofwisseling, om zo het begrip ‘genezing’ ter discussie stellen. Door te werken met de en de cartografie van planten, schimmels en bacteriën die in de stad voorkomen, willen ze een ruimte creëren waar het crip-zijn* en genezing naast elkaar kunnen bestaan.

W139 x Prince Claus Fund: Exchanges

We zijn verheugd onze samenwerking met het Prince Claus Fund Exchanges programma aan te kondigen! In 2026 organiseren Prince Claus Fund en W139 drie residenties, waarvan Martina Manterola en Carmen Serra, van colectivo amasijo, de eerste zijn.
In april gaat de eerste bij W139 van start. Martina Manterola, ontvanger van een Prince Claus Fund Seed Award, en Carmen Serra, mede-oprichter van colectivo amasijo, zullen tot eind juni bij W139 verblijven.
Martina Manterola, gevestigd in Mexico, houdt zich bezig met voedsel, ecologie en feminisme, en stelt zo conventionele ideeën en hiërarchieën ter discussie. colectivo amasijo zal tevens aansluiten bij een bijzondere gathering bij Four Siblings, deel van het van flour, water, soil. Hierover binnenkort meer informatie.
Elke residentie van het Exchanges programma zal aansluiten bij een van W139, en speelt in op de behoeften en de achtergrond van de deelnemende kunstenaar. W139 ondersteunt hen bij het verkennen van het Amsterdamse culturele landschap door hen in contact te brengen met peers en organisaties.
Deze samenwerking, als onderdeel van het Exchanges programma van het Prince Claus Fund, wordt ondersteund door Gemeente Amsterdam.

De genomineerden voor de Volkskrant Beeldende Kunst Prijs 2026 zijn bekendgemaakt, en we zijn trots te kunnen vermelden dat drie van hen lid zijn van de ! Afra Eisma, één van de initierende kunstenaars van Outside the Soup (2025), Sondi, deelnemend kunstenaar van Taking Root Among the Stars (2024), en Levi van Gelder, W139-teamlid.
De prijs heeft als doel het werk en de creativiteit van jonge kunstenaars onder de aandacht te brengen. Het werk van de genomineerde kunstenaars zal te zien zijn bij Monopole van 13 juni t/m 2 augustus. De winnaar van de juryprijs wordt tijdens de opening op 13 juni 2026 bekend gemaakt.

De Britse kunstenaar Jesse Darling verandert de kerkruimte in een landschap dat bestaat uit puin van bouwafval, oude meubels, afgedankte elektronica en andere materialen verzameld uit Amsterdam.

Join us for the festive opening of flour, water, soil, the upcoming exhibition at W139, initiated by maria khatchadourian. During the evening, there will be street food style snacks made by maria and Common Ground, a special cocktail, and a performance by GalalaLive that uses sound and music to offer resilience in challenging times.
flour, water, soil is a group exhibition initiated by maria khatchadourian, including new and adapted site-specific works by artists Areej Ashhab, Common Ground (Saja Amro and Anna Celda), Ola Hassanain, maria khatchadourian, Ai Ozaki, and belit sağ.
The exhibition reflects on food, land, and agricultural practice as the through which geographies of displacement, colonial rupture, and kinship are carried and contested—fragile geographies that resist erasure through dialect, embodied knowledge, and ancestral recipes.
With an extended community programme, the exhibition unfolds through acts of gathering: conversations, reading sessions, workshops, shared meals, foraging, and collective actions. Emerging as an exhibition continually in flux, flour, water, soil will expand through gestures that activate the space as a lived, living, and sustaining environment.

Para-siting: Cripping Warmoesstraat

Cripping Warmoesstraat is an inquiry into crip embodiment in Amsterdam through herbalist practices and solidarity networks. Working with plants, flowers, herbs, and bacteria already present in the Warmoesstraat, as well as our messy metabolics, Ilja Schamlé and Pırıltı Onukar will set up a lab-kitchen at W139 where they question and twist the notion of healing. Working with the seasonality and cartography of plants, fungi, and bacteria that persist in the city, they aim to create a space where being crip* can coexist with healing.

W139 x Prince Claus Fund: Exchanges
—Martina Manterola and Carmen Serra
We are very happy to announce our collaboration with the Prince Claus Fund! In 2026, we will host three residencies as part of the Exchanges programme; the first features Martina Manterola and Carmen Serra, cofounders of colectivo amasijo.
In April the first artist residency will start, featuring Prince Claus Fund Seed Awardee Martina Manterola, who will be joined by Carmen Serra, her cofounder of the collective colectivo amasijo. They will be staying at W139 until the end of June.
Martina Manterola is a cultural practitioner based in Mexico. Her practice critically engages with food, ecology, and feminism, challenging conventional ideas and hierarchies. colectivo amasijo will also join a very special gathering at Four Siblings, as part of the community programme of flour, water, soil. Each residency will be connected to one of W139’s 2026 exhibitions and respond to the needs and context of the participating artist. During the residencies, the W139 team supports artists in navigating Amsterdam’s cultural landscape—connecting them with peers and organisations.
This collaboration is part of the Exchanges programme by the Prince Claus Fund, with support of the City of Amsterdam.

The nominees for the Volkskrant Visual Arts Prize 2026 have been announced, and we are proud to share that three of them are members of the W139 community! Afra Eisma, one of the initiating artists of Outside the Soup (2025), Sondi, participating artist of Taking Root Among the Starts (2024), and Levi van Gelder, W139 team member.
With the goal of highlighting the work and creativity of young artists, their work will also be on show at Monopole from 13 June to 2 August. The winner of the jury prize will be announced during the opening on 13 June.
