Aankomende vrijdag opent bij Nest de lente- en Out of Office (Still Here). Dertien kunstenaars reflecteren op vrije tijd, vakantie en de toegang tot sport en spel. Want waar voor veel mensen de zomervakantie een periode van rust, vrijheid en ontspanning betekent, is dat niet voor iedereen zo. Waar de een plannen maakt om te vertrekken, naar zon, zee, strand of juist de bergen, is de zomer voor een ander een periode van doorwerken, thuisblijven, je vervelen, misschien familie opzoeken of zorgen voor anderen.
De opent met een performance van Kexin Hao's Future Dance of Nostalgia. De choreografie van deze interactieve performance is gebaseerd op historische werkliederen en bewegingen van het lichaam tijdens het werk. Werkliederen hielpen bij het werk vóór de Industriële Revolutie vaak om bewegingen te synchroniseren, verveling tegen te gaan of verzet te bieden.

This Friday, Nest opens the spring- and summer exhibition Out of Office (Still Here). Thirteen artists reflect on free time, holidays and acces to sports and play. Although for many the summer holidays signify a time of rest, freedom and relaxation, this is not the case for others. Where one might make plans to travel to the sun, beach or mountains, others are forced to stay at home, keep working, face boredom and maybe help or seek out family and friends.
The exhibition opens with a performance by Kexin Hao. Her interactive performance Future Dance of Nostalgia has a choreography that is based on historic work songs and the moving body. Work songs were, before the Industrial Revolution, often used to synchronise movement, counter boredom in repetitive work, or to express resistance.
