Op 24 april opende W139 de nieuwe flour, water, soil, geïnitieerd door maria khatchadourian. We kijken terug op een fantastische opening, met performances van Galalalive en Areej Ashhab. De loopt t/m 12 juli, en wordt de aankomende maanden aangevuld met een uitgebreid —waarover hieronder meer.
flour, water, soil bevat nieuwe en aangepaste werken van Areej Ashhab, het duo Common Ground (Anna Celda en Saja Amro), Ola Hassanain, maria khatchadourian, Ai Ozaki en belit sağ. Samen houden de werken zich bezig met aarde, zaden, water, fermentatie en verwoesting als ruimtes waar zorg en geweld met elkaar verstrengeld zijn. Ze bevatten verhalen van herstel, onteigening en continuïteit.
flour must be… leersessies — zondag 24 mei, 15:30–17:30

Kunstenaars en onderzoekers Anna Celda en Saja Amro (Common Ground) brengen hun installatie tot leven middels twee leersessies. Tijdens deze sessies wordt de meelzak gebruikt als een pedagogisch instrument om te lezen, te koken, te leren en te reflecteren.
after afterlives: filmvertoning en — woensdag 27 mei, 20:00–22:00 Areej Ashhab, Dina Mimi en Ola Hassanain vertonen hun films. Daarna gaan zij met elkaar in gesprek onder leiding van Margarita Osipian, waarbij hun individuele werk en de verhalen die daarin tot uiting komen met elkaar worden verweven.
kiln as kin: een dag van samenkomst, bakken en koken — zaterdag 13 juni, 14:00–20:00
Samen met kunstenaar Tatiana M. Melo en colectivo amasijo activeren we tijdens deze feestelijke samenkomst de zelfgebouwde kleioven in tonir-stijl. Samen bereiden we voedsel, koken en eten we — als manieren van over , voedseloogst en vergeten recepten.
earthly suns: workshop en performance programma — vrijdag 26 juni, 14:00–18:00 (workshop), 20:00–22:00 (performance programma) In dit tweeledige programma staat sint-janskruid als en diens queer-poëtica centraal. Sluit je aan bij Sasa Ghanem-Chaney, Jules Davis-Dufayard en A.E.Z Pinay voor een middag vol queer en collectieve zorg. 's Avonds volgt een samenkomst met plantenoffers, en een optreden van Queer Choir Amsterdam.
gathering grounds: een feestelijke marktdag — zondag 12 juli, 12:00–18:00
Wees welkom op deze feestelijke marktdag om de laatste dag van flour, water, soil te vieren. De transformeert in een vrij toegankelijke markt waar we samen kunnen eten, praten, zaden kopen, workshops volgen en de kunstwerken nog één keer tot leven kunnen brengen.

Para-siting: Cripping Warmoesstraat
— t/m 23 mei 2026
Cripping Warmoesstraat onderzoekt crip* belichaming in de Amsterdamse context, en . Vertrekkend vanuit de en de cartografie van planten, schimmels en bacteriën die in de stad voorkomen, creëren Ilja Schamlé en Pırıltı Onukar een ruimte waar crip-zijn* en genezing naast elkaar bestaan. Door te verzamelen, koken, fermenteren, proeven en ruiken onderzoeken ze de directe verbanden tussen lichamen en omgevingen, en spelen ze met de in wat 'gezond zijn' betekent.

Urban Healing Fabulation: participatieve performance — zondag 10 mei, 13:00–16:00
Ilja en Pırıltı zullen aandachtig naar je problemen luisteren en genezing bieden voor je chronische aandoeningen die door het veroorzaakt zijn.
Crip Healers Reading Group — zaterdag 16 mei, 15:00–17:30
Het leven van teksten over , stedelijkheid, hekserij, de politiek van gezondheid en crip-theorie. Vooraf lezen is niet nodig.
Tasting Warmoesstraat — woensdag 20 mei, 13:00–15:00
Een proeverij van dat wat groeit in, op en rondom een van de ruigste en drukste straten van het toeristische Amsterdam: de Warmoesstraat.
Crippissage: een gezonde samenkomst — zaterdag 23 mei, 17:00–20:00
Een afsluitend minisymposium waarbij we samenkomen, converseren, proeven en helen; met hapjes en drankjes.

Op 14 mei opent het nieuwe glasatelier Crush Studio zijn deuren. Met een speciale focus op gemeenschap en experiment vieren ze hun feestelijke opening met optredens van Project X en Valentina Cadena.

On 24 April, we opened our new exhibition flour, water, soil, initiated by maria khatchadourian. flour, water, soil takes shape through new and adapted site-specific works by Areej Ashhab, the duo Common Ground (Anna Celda and Saja Amro), Ola Hassanain, maria khatchadourian, Ai Ozaki and belit sağ. Together, the works in the exhibition attend to soil, seed, water, fermentation, and ruin as sites where care and violence are entangled—holding stories of repair, dispossession, and continuity. The exhibition is on show until 12 July.

Community Programme
flour must be… learning sessions — Sunday 24 May, 15:30–17:30

Artists and researchers Anna Celda and Saja Amro (Common Ground) will activate their installation with a series of learning sessions. These sessions will use the flour bag as a pedagogical tool for reading, cooking, learning, and reflection.
after afterlives: film screening and talk programme — Wednesday 27 May, 20:00–22:00 Areej Ashhab, Dina Mimi and Ola Hassanain will screen their films. This will be followed by a conversation between Ola, Dina, and Areej, moderated by Margarita Osipian, interweaving their individual works and the stories that unfold through them.
kiln as kin: a day of gathering, firing, cooking — Saturday 13 June, 14:00–20:00
A festive gathering and activation of a tonir-style clay oven in collaboration with artist Tatiana M. Melo and colectivo amasijo. Together we will prepare food, cook, and eat together as a way to share knowledge about food systems, foraging practices, and forgotten recipes.
earthly suns: workshop and performance programme — Friday 26 June, 14:00–18:00 (workshop), 20:00–22:00 (gathering and performances)
A two-part programme that centers the plant-ally Saint-John's-Wort and the queer poetics it offers. Join artists Sasa Ghanem-Chaney, Jules Davis-Dufayard, and A.E.Z Pinay for an afternoon of queer collective care. In the evening there will be a special gathering with plant offerings, a sonic mediation, and a concert by Queer Choir Amsterdam.
gathering grounds: a festive market day — Sunday 12 July, 12:00–18:00
Join us for a festive market day, where we gather to celebrate the final day of flour, water, soil. The exhibition will transform into a freely accessible market where we can all come together to eat, talk, buy seeds, engage in learning sessions, and collectively activate the works one last time.

Para-siting: Cripping Warmoesstraat

Cripping Warmoesstraat is an inquiry into crip* embodiment in Amsterdam through herbalist practices and solidarity networks. Working with the seasonality and cartography of plants, fungi, and bacteria that persist in the city, Ilja Schamlé and Pırıltı Onukar aim to create a space where being crip* can coexist with healing. Through foraging, cooking, fermenting, tasting, and smelling, they will engage the immediate bindings between bodies and environments—playing with the contradictions in what it means to be “healthy”.

Reading texts about herbalism, urbanism, witchcraft, politics of health and crip theory. No preparatory readings required.
Tasting Warmoesstraat — Wednesday 20 May, 13:00–15:00 Tasting what grows in, on, and around one of the grittiest and most frequented streets of Amsterdam: the Warmoesstraat.
Crippissage: A Healthy Gathering — Saturday 23 May, 17:00–20:00 A mini-symposium where we gather, converse, taste, and heal. There will be small bites and drinks.
