Trek je agenda, want er komen weer veelbelovende Perdu Avonden aan! Zo is er bijvoorbeeld op 5 juni 'Wat is het antwoord? En waarop?', een Avond waarop het prozagedicht N30 van vermaard dichter Jeroen Mettes volop in de belangstelling staat. Â
Of wat dacht je van Lines that run from each organ to the heart op 29 mei? In een melange van diverse talen, performance en poëzie maken we kennis met vervreemding, het Belgische Oostende, het Argentijnse Ostende en het adembenemende Corset Drama.
Maar nu eerst vanavond. Woorden mogen de koers van de wereld dan wel niet altijd kunnen veranderen, stil blijven is ook geen optie. To she who treads water belooft een Avond vol muziek, poĂ«zie en beweging. Het vraagt ruimte voor geleefde ervaringen binnen de wereldwijde politiek, koloniale terreur en vernietiging van transfeminine levens. En het brengt een ode aan het vinden van een stem. Organisatoren Marija Cetinić & Jimena Casas nodigden hier Ada Maricia Patterson, Yael Davids en M. Maria Walhout voor uit.  Â

This writing  workshopis inspired by Gaston Bachelard’s The Poetics of Space and will be lead by Palestinian poet Asmaa Azaizeh. The language of instruction will be English.
Do we stay who we are when we lose our spaces? And how will such a loss transform our personal identity? Through guided writing exercises, we will craft both poetry and prose.
The Poetics of Absent Spaces will explore our absent spaces, those concealed, destroyed, or silenced, whether by political forces, by war, or simply by time and change.
We will focus on how absence itself shapes our imagination, and how lost spaces persist in memory, emotion, dreams, and personal history.

Finding voice in a world that often only feels moved by silences and violent erasures, a cut has been made in our ability to practise. Together we try to step through. Ada Maricia Patterson and Yael Davids, together with M. Maria Walhout, call and respond through poetry, voice, sound, music and movement.
to she who treads water makes space for a close interfacing between lived experiences in this global political moment: colonial terror and the eradication of transfeminine life. With what little words we have to speak to unspeakable conditions, our bodies—inscribed by our being in this world—write back.
This project is dedicated to honouring the hesitations in finding voice; that even though our words might not be enough to move the world differently, that while our usual survival tactics and ways of making might suddenly feel toothless, surrendering to silence is not an option.
Forsaken in the wilderness, talking to God when God feels absent, floating directionless in open seas, to she who treads water offers a score that laments, grieves, rages, yearns and loves.
