Summer is here, Amsterdam is quiet, and the art world is (mostly) on holiday. The perfect moment, then, to already save a date for November.
While the city takes a breather, we're already looking ahead. This year, Amsterdam Art Week returns to November for its fourteenth edition, taking place from Wednesday 18 to Sunday 22 November 2026, supported by the City of Amsterdam and alongside the Rijksakademie Open Studios.
For five days, galleries, project spaces, museums, residencies and corporate collections across the city open their doors, celebrating contemporary art and the people making it. For both the national and international art world, it's the moment to rediscover Amsterdam.

What's new?
This edition, we're choosing depth over breadth. The programme centres on the artists, organizations & institutions shaping Amsterdam's contemporary art scene, and on the paths artists take to get there: from studio, to gallery, to project space, sometimes all the way to the city's museums.
As Joanna van der Werf, Amsterdam Art Week's new Managing Director, puts it:
"Amsterdam Art Week exists for art, artists and audiences. Right now, art is one of the few spaces left where , multiple perspectives and interpretation can truly breathe. That's why this edition is about depth: a focused programme, built on the galleries, project spaces and residencies this city already has. In November, we're inviting audiences to explore all of it."
New this year, the In Depth Programme offers art lovers, collectors, curators and professionals a different kind of access, not the VIP format of previous years, but a smaller number of carefully chosen moments built for real depth, encounter and exchange. Join by invitation, or apply through our open procedure.
As always, Amsterdam Art Week opens on Wednesday 18 November with the Rijksakademie Open Studios, an invite-only evening where fifty international residents open their studios to collectors, curators, press and art professionals.
Thursday 19 November brings Gallery Night, with openings happening simultaneously across the city. It's the perfect evening to walk or cycle around town, discover new exhibitions and galleries, and run into familiar and new faces along the way.
Friday shifts the focus to project spaces, museums and corporate collections. And on Saturday and Sunday, the whole city joins in, with routes through different neighbourhoods and programming for families too.
