Op 4 september openen we onze nieuwe Creation Myths and Other Beginnings – over en -mythes. Tot en met 16 augustus kun je nog Out of Office (Still Here) nog bezoeken. Op 15 augustus sluiten we die af met een heuse Block Party!

Wie zijn we en waarom zijn we hier? Om die existentiële vragen te beantwoorden hebben culturen overal ter wereld hun eigen gecreëerd en gedeeld.
Het zijn verhalen die iets vertellen over een collectieve identiteit, een moreel kompas, een dat mensen verbindt en betekenis geeft aan tradities en waarden. Maar zijn nooit neutraal. Ze kunnen legitimeren, een status quo in stand houden en andere verhalen juist onderdrukken. In de internationale Creation Myths and Other Beginningsonderzoeken we daarom juist de niet-dominante , verhalen die via orale cultuur werden overgedragen van generatie op generatie of juist speculatieve, fictieve alternatieven. Wat kunnen we van deze verhalen leren over onze sociale werkelijkheid en mogelijke toekomst?

Op zaterdag 15 augustus organiseren we een Block Party: een feest voor de hele buurt, op het De Constant Rebecqueplein in Den Haag. Speciaal voor wie thuis blijft of moet blijven in de zomervakantie. Het wordt een middag en avond vol kunst, muziek, lekker eten en drinken, rondleidingen en workshops en spelletjes voor alle leeftijden. In deze nieuwsbrief stellen we je voor aan de eerste !

Tekenworkshop
Nice Flaps is een experimenteel teken-platform uit Den Haag. Ze organiseren open tekensessies in verschillende settings. Soms met model, soms met twee, soms zonder. Voor iedereen die samen wil tekenen, op welk niveau dan ook, zonder vaste uitkomst.

Club Laak is zonder meer de meest club van Den Haag. Gevestigd in het Laakkwartier kun je er tot diep in de nacht dansen. De Haagse dj’s Robbin, Zwits, Djaro en Ruben Soffner verzorgen namens Laak de muziek.

Dooorp is een creatieve gemeenschap die wekelijks evenementen organiseert die muziek, kunsten en eten combineren met 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘷𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘴. Tijdens de Block Party verzorgen ze een pop-up markt met kunst, muziek, tijdelijke tatoeages en nog veel meer.

Who are we, and why are we here? In seeking answers to these existential questions, cultures across the world have created and passed down their own stories of origin.
These narratives speak of collective identity, moral frameworks and shared points of reference that connect people and lend meaning to traditions and values. Yet creation myths are never neutral. They can legitimise systems of power, reinforce the status quo, and silence alternative narratives. The international group exhibition Creation Myths and Other Beginnings therefore turns its attention to non-dominant creation stories: myths transmitted through oral traditions across generations, as well as speculative and fictional alternatives. What might these stories reveal about our social reality, and about the futures we might yet imagine?

On Saturday August 15th we’re organising a Block Party: a day for the neighbourhood at the De Constant Rebecqueplein in The Hague. For those who stay at home during the summer. An afternoon and evening full of art, music, good food and drinks, guided tours, workshops and games for all ages. In this newsletter we'll introduce you to our first programme partners!
