Dank aan iedereen die met ons de spectaculaire opening van Temper Tantrum Bonehouse (Chilling Incisions Calling Things That Have No Name) heeft gevierd. Het was een onvergetelijke avond, met name dankzij de bloedstollende performances van Mette Sterre en Lolly Adams (als de fantastische Miss HerNia).
De opening gemist? Geen zorgen! Er is nog volop gelegenheid om het Temper Tantrum Bonehouse te bezoeken.
Temper Tantrum Bonehouse (Chilling Incisions Calling Things That Have No Name), geïnitieerd door Mette Sterre, verkent de grenzeloze potentie van het lichaam en transformeert W139 tot een bezeten, grotesk, organisme. De immersieve toont nieuw en bestaand werk dat het lichaam doet vervormen voorbij herkenning en beperkingen. De kunstenaars creëren hybride, monsterlijke verschijningen die zich onttrekken aan categorisering en tegengeluid bieden jegens onderdrukkende systemen.
Met werk van Lolly Adams, Özgür Atlagan, Monster Chetwynd, Diane Mahín, Aimée Philips & Nina Läuger en Mette Sterre, en sound design van BJ Nilsen. Te zien bij W139 t/m 16 november, geopend woensdag tot zondag van 12:00 tot 18:00.

Bert Derkx en Mette Sterre gaan samen met het publiek in gesprek over hoe kinesthetiek en beweging ons enerzijds verankeren in de realiteit, en anderzijds toegang geven tot andere werelden.
W139 x ADE: A Nightmare on Warmoes Street — zondag 26 oktober. 19:30-21:00
Een avond met drie performances van Diane Mahín, Mette Sterre tijdens Amsterdam Dance Event. Deze drie solo’s verkennen het lichaam en haar grenzeloze mogelijkheden.
Monster Ball — donderdag 30 oktober, 19:30-22:00
Een nacht van spektakel: reken op monsterlijke activaties, kruipende schimmen die misschien wel dansen, schaduwspel en duivelse optredens. Kruip in de huid van je innerlijke wezen voor het Monster Ball - er wacht een prijs op het best geklede monster van de avond!

Trek samen met ons de rode lijn in Amsterdam
Op zondag 5 oktober trekken we opnieuw een rode lijn. Omdat alle rode lijnen al zijn overschreden. Omdat ze niet lijken te bestaan. Deze keer trekken we de Rode Lijn in Amsterdam, om heel Nederland en de rest van de wereld te laten zien dat de Nederlandse bevolking concrete actie eist van politici om effectieve maatregelen te nemen tegen de genocide en illegale bezetting van Palestina door Israël. Zolang ze dat weigeren, gaan we de straat op.

Open Call Dead Darlings XX

In It Together is het langverwachte 20-jarig jubileum van Dead Darlings, aanstaande december bij W139. Om deze mijlpaal te vieren, organiseren we een gehele veilingdag van ruim 80 kunstwerken, een knallend feest, voorafgegaan door , en een die 20 jaar Dead Darlings omvat.
Stuur je werken in voor de veiling tot zondag 5 oktober!
Para-siting: Spooktember
— laatste event deze zaterdag 4 oktober!
Deze zaterdag is alweer het laatste evenement van Spooktember, georganiseerd door onze huidige Para-siting deelnemers Spookstad.
Spooktember brengt uiteenlopende vormen van creativiteit en solidariteit samen, om gezamenlijk het leven in de stad te herverbeelden en om te creëren en publiceren in dienst van protest, verzet en alternatieven.
Amsterdam Conference of Autonomous Book-Makers — zaterdag 4 oktober, 12:00-18:00
Kom langs op de laatste dag van Spooktember om te zeefdrukken op je eigen kleren of buttons te maken, tijdens deze mini zine- en boekenmarkt met andere autonome en anarchistische zine- en boekmakers.
Parasiting: Tempodesert
— iedere vrijdag van 10 t/m 31 oktober
Deze maand verwelkomen we Tempodesert in onze , met hun project Desert Without Sand: Sequential Practices. Tempodesert is een performatief laboratorium dat op poëtische wijze de holistische en gelaagde van de woestijn verkent: geologisch, vergankelijk, oneindig en mythologisch.
Sequential Practices is een ruimte voor reflectie en onderzoek naar de woestijn als fysiek landschap, abstract concept en plek voor speculatie. Door middel van een reeks activiteiten, waaronder performatieve lezingen, openbare evenementen en workshops over cartografie en diagrammen, wil Sequential Practices verschillende performatieve praktijken verkennen, en de complexiteit van de woestijn vanuit verschillende hoeken benaderen.
Tempodesert is een samenwerking tussen Fay Aldhukair en Mohamed Abdelkarim, met soms bijdragen van anderen. Hun doel is de woestijn te onderzoeken, te bevrijden en terug te winnen van koloniale verhalen en opgelegde percepties.
Sonic Acts Biennal 2026—Melted for Love
Van 5 februari tot 29 maart 2026 vindt de Sonic Acts Biennal plaats in Amsterdam, met meer dan 80 evenementen verspreid over 15 locaties, waaronder W139. Het programma bevat baanbrekende performances, hedendaagse geluidsexperimenten en kunst van meer dan 200 artiesten.
Melted for Love verkent het idee van ‘thuis’, niet als een fysieke structuur, maar als een plek van uitnodiging, aandacht en zorg. Met open oren en volle harten luisteren we naar de klanken, liederen, transmissies en resonanties die ons met elkaar verbinden. Meer informatie en open calls voor workshops volgen binnenkort.

Interwoven Futures, met Armpit of a Giant – or the Juice of a Beetle van Anna Hoetjes, is nog t/m 16 november te zien bij Museum Rijswijk i.h.k.v. de Textiel Biënnale. In de Textiel Biënnale 2025,Verweven Toekomsten verkennen twintig internationale kunstenaars ideale werelden en waarschuwende doemscenario’s via vernieuwende en inspirerende textiele kunstwerken.

Beginnings okt 25 – Double Bill Frascati
— 2, 3, 4 oktober, 20:00 In Beginnings toont Frascati Producties het theatraal onderzoek van twee jonge theatermakers die een maand de tijd krijgen om nieuw werk te ontwikkelen. In oktober is het de beurt aan Kaya en Veronika Abdul-Visocka. Zij tonen een eerste proeve van hun onderzoek.

Temper Tantrum Bonehouse (Chilling Incisions Calling Things That Have No Name), initiated by Mette Sterre, explores the limitless potential of the body—turning W139 into a possessed, grotesque, organism. The immersive group show features new and existing works by artists that similarly distort the body beyond limitations and familiarity—creating chimeric apparitions that defy categorization and offer against oppressive systems. What unfolds is not a descent into horror, but a reckoning with the politics of fear.
With works by Lolly Adams, Özgür Atlagan, Monster Chetwynd, Diane Mahín, Aimée Philips & Nina Läuger, and Mette Sterre, and sound design by BJ Nilsen. On show until 16 November, open Wednesdays through Sundays from 12:00 until 18:00.

Dress up as your inner creature for the Monster Ball: A night of gruesome extravagance with the House of Løstbois and many more. Expect creaturely activations, creepy-crawl dancing, shadow play, and ghoulish performances. A prize awaits for the best-dressed monster of the night!

Join us in drawing the red line in Amsterdam
On Sunday 5 October, we will once again draw a red line. Because all red lines have already been crossed. Because they seem not to exist. This time, we will draw the Red Line in Amsterdam, to show the whole of the Netherlands and the rest of the world that the people of the Netherlands demand concrete action from politicians to take effective measures against Israel’s genocide and illegal occupation of Palestine. As long as they refuse, we will take to the streets.

Open Call Dead Darlings XX

Coming to W139 this December, In It Together will be Dead Darling’s 20th anniversary event. To mark this milestone, W139 will host a full auction day with up to 80 artworks, a celebratory bash, and in the weeks before, panel talks, silk-screening sessions, and an archival show spanning 20 years of Dead Darlings.
Submit your artworks to the open call for the auction by Sunday 5 October.

Mobilizing various forms of creativity in the service of solidarity, Spooktember is a place for reimagining life in the city, the ways publishing interacts with protest and resistance, and coming together to create alternatives.

On the last day of Spooktember, come in to make your own buttons or screenprint your clothes, while we’re joined by other autonomous and anarchist book and zine crafters for a mini book and zine fair!
Parasiting: Tempodesert

This month we are excited to welcome Tempodesert in our Para-siting space, with their project Desert Without Sand: Sequential Practices. Tempodesert operates as a performative lab, poetically exploring the holistic and layered temporalities of the desert, geological, ephemeral, eternal, and mythological.
Sequential Practices is a space for contemplation and investigation into the desert as both a physical landscape, an abstract concept, and a site for speculation. Through a cluster of activities, including performative reading, public events, and mapping and diagramming workshops, Sequential Practices aims to navigate and discuss multiple performative practices approaching to the desert’s complexity.
Tempodesert is a collaboration between Fay Aldhukair and Mohamed Abdelkarim, with occasional contributions from others, seeinkg to investigate, reclaim, and liberate the desert from colonial narratives and imposed perceptions.
Sonic Acts Biennal 2026—Melted for Love
Taking place in Amsterdam from 5 February to 29 March 2026 and spread over 80 events across 15 venues —including W139—, the programme features cutting-edge performances, contemporary sound experiments, and art by over 200 artists.
Melted for Love reimagines home, not as a physical structure, but as a site of invitation, attentiveness, and care. With open ears and full hearts, we listen, attuned to the sounds, songs, transmissions, and resonances that hold us close to one another. More information and workshop open calls will be available soon.

Anna Hoetjes' Armpit of a Giant – or the Juice of a Beetle is on view at Museum Rijswijkas part of the Textile Biennial Interwoven Futures, until 16 November. In the 2025 Textile Biennial, twenty international artists explore ideal worlds and dire warnings of doom through innovative and inspiring textile artworks.
